There were some legends of Mumbai Cricket present in the opening ceremony of the city’s newly launched T20 competition named T20 Mumbai League, however, one of them seemed to get a touch offended about the fact that the presenters didn’t call him on the stage first.

Shreyas Talpade and Sonali Bendre, who are well-renowned names in the Hindi film industry, were in charge of the operations on the stage and they called the names of Sachin Tendulkar and Dilip Vengsarkar before calling the name of Sunil Gavaskar despite the former being the senior-most of the three and it didn’t please Gavaskar.

The former Indian opening batsman, who is also the commissioner of the league, took a dig at the presenters as he got onto the stage. He picked upon Sonali Bendre and asked her how she could slot him at no. 3 when she herself had described him as an opening batsman a few moments later and had spoken so much about him.

Gavaskar miffed with Shreyas and Sonali

Sonali and Shreyas thought Sunil Gavaskar was just pulling their legs, so they laughed a bit and tried to brush the matter aside, but Gavaskar was in no mood to let it go as he questioned them why they were laughing. He even reminded Shreyas Talpade that he has been a part of a movie based on Cricket, so how could he do it?

Seeing it get a bit serious, Sonali Bendre apologized in Marathi “Mafi kara, mafi kara” (I beg your pardon). However Gavaskar then changed his tone and told Sonali and Shreyas to take it easy as he was just kidding with them, but considering Gavaskar’s tone earlier, it didn’t look like he was really kidding. He probably didn’t want to leave a bad taste of it at the end.

It all ended in a gracious manner though as Gavaskar delivered his speech and the ceremony went on pretty smoothly.
