Veteran Indian cricketer Suresh Raina is all set to don the Indian team jersey yet again. Raina has been named in the India’s T20I squad for the upcoming T20I series against South Africa. The Proteas are scheduled to host the Indian team for a 3-match T20I series after the conclusion of the ODI series. India has had a great run in the series thus far.

The visiting side showed great character in the Test series, albeit they ended up losing it 2-1. They have managed to more than just cover up for the series loss though. The Virat Kohli-led side has already won the ODI series with a match still left to be played in the series. Now, with the T20I series coming up, the expectations would be to continue the good limited overs form in T20Is as well.

And for that to happen, all players will have to step up. Suresh Raina, being a senior member of the team, will be expected to shoulder a lot of responsibility in the Indian middle-order in the series. Raina has already arrived in South Africa and has started off his preparations. While he was en route Johannesburg, he had posted an update about the same.

Raina had remarked that he is eager to get onboard and be back on the cricket field again. Raina has been out of the national side for almost a year now. His last appearance in the Indian jersey was in February last year in a T20I against England where he had hit a crucial fifty.

Here is what Suresh Raina had tweeted:

“En route Joburg . can’t wait to get started . @ Dubai International Airport,” Suresh Raina tweeted.

Amir’s response

It was heartening to see Pakistani speedster Mohammad Amir sending out his good wishes for Suresh Raina. The Indian and Pakistani teams are fierce rivals on the cricket field. However, off the field, the players of two nations share great camaraderie. This gesture from Amir is just another example of it.

Mohammad Amir wrote, “Good luck bro do well.”
