Recently the star cricketer Suresh Raina became the talk of the town when he hit headlines after announcing his sudden retirement from international formats of cricket. Prior to him, one of the most successful captains in the world, MS Dhoni bowed out of the international cricket, and it felt like his great off and on-field friend, Raina just joined him in this journey. The stunning fielder spilled beans on his retirement news through an Instagram post, but the official news was confirmed by BCCI the next day.

Now he is again caught in the limelight for all the good reasons. On Wednesday, he has written a letter addressing DGP of J&K to propose cricket opportunities for underprivileged and children of rural areas in Jammu & Kashmir. Esteemed senior journalist Aditya Raj Kaul who hails from Kashmir, took to his Twitter handle to share this amazing news and congratulated Raina for having a golden heart.

He shared the same letter written by Raina and posted it with the caption, “Excellent initiative! Cricketer friend Suresh Raina writes to J&K DGP Dilbag Singh, offers cricket opportunity for underprivileged & rural area children in Jammu & Kashmir. Kudos, Suresh! This will go a long way in getting talented youth in J&K national/international recognition.”

To throw some more light on laudable efforts of Raina in the field of philanthropy, he runs an NGO named Gracia Raina foundation along with his wife, Priyanka Raina. The organization empowers women in their reproductive age to make informed choices and is lead actively by his wife, Priyanka. The name of the foundation is kept on the name of his little daughter Gracia and is quite active on Instagram

The 33-year-old has sported the Indian jersey in 18 Tests, 226 ODIs, 78 T20Is with 768, 5615, and 1605 runs, respectively. He has been an integral part of the Chennai Super Kings’ squad since the inception of IPL. Currently, he is in UAE, along with CSK teammates to gear up for the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League slated to commence on September 19. The star-studded line up of Chennai will be eyeing their 4th IPL trophy under able guidance MS Dhoni.
