The Chennai Super Kings became only the second team after the Mumbai Indians to win the IPL title on three occasions. They registered their third IPL win this season after beating the Sunrisers Hyderabad in the tournament. The key highlight for the Super Kings this season was the fact that they had a new match winner in every game. The likes of Dwayne Bravo, Suresh Raina, Shane Watson, Sam Billings, Ambati Rayudu, and MS Dhoni all stepped up to the occasion when needed.
It was indeed a thorough a team effort that saw the Men in Yellow dictate terms in the tournament. Coming in to the tournament, they were making a comeback to the IPL roster. There were a lot of speculations about their team combinations considering the fact that they had senior members in the squad.
They silenced all critics big time and remarked that there is surely no substitute for experience. They had a thrilling win in the season opener which was followed by another close win. They found their mojo in the right time and the margin of their victories kept getting better. In the league stages, the fans also got to witness the vintage form of MS Dhoni who looked sensational with the bat this season.
The Chennai Super Kings finished second in the points table at the end of the league stages. They locked horns with the table toppers, the Sunrisers Hyderabad, in the Qualifier 1 in the first game of the playoffs. They beat the Orange Army to march in to the finals. They faced off against the same team again for the ultimate glory and won the game with a clinical performance.
After the win, the team celebrated their win in grand manner. And recently, the players had their last team dinner of the season. Suresh Raina posted a picture of the same on his social media handle. Dwayne Bravo, MS Dhoni, and Harbhajan Singh are seen in the post along with Raina. All the four players were dressed up in yellow for the occasion.
