Out of favour, Indian international Suresh Raina has been going through hardcore work out session and fitness drills in the city of Amsterdam. The reason behind the same is to keep himself fit enough for the gruelling domestic games and compete at the national level when the door opens once again for him. Raina was once again ignored by the board as they announced the Indian squad for the limited over games in Sri Lanka.

The left handed batsman’s last ODI appearance roots back to the year of 2015 in the month of October. He has been in the reckoning for the T20 format as his last T20 came earlier this year in February. Raina had been sweating it out at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru and was looking forward to earning a berth for himself in the Indian squad which is set to take on Sri Lanka in the coloured jersey. With that not going according to plan, Raina will now prepare himself for the domestic circuit and the challenges that come with it.

He will represent his state Uttar Pradesh in the domestic format. His fitness will be taken care of by the experienced professionals he has been working with at Amsterdam. The season will kick start with the All India Buchi Babu Cricket Tournament.

What Raina had to say:

“With the new season around the corner, I am determined, hungry and eager to play the highest form of the game for India,” the 28-year-old Raina had told PTI. “It is wonderful to be able to train with total intensity with the Dutch national team since I want to hit the ground running when the domestic season starts with a series of tournaments across the country in Chennai, Chandigarh and Hyderabad,” he said.

Suresh Raina took to his official Twitter account to reveal a photograph where we can see the whole team meeting for dinner. He wrote, “Looking forward to the @upcacricket camp starting tomorrow. Very excited to have @behrooz.9 and @hng.nguyen onboard for training the team and bringing the complete fitness regime from #Amsterdam to all the way in #Kanpur. Thank you so much @rajeevshuklaoffl for having this all organised and making it possible. #FitTeam #FocusedTeam #Camp #cricket #Kanpur #UPCA #GreenPark #ranjitrophy #firstclassseason #Excited #committed”.
