Melbourne Stars and Sydney Sixers will face each other for the second time in the ongoing season in match no.31 of the Big Bash League (BBL) 2022 on Friday, January 6, at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).
Sixers and Stars have played eight and seven games respectively, while Sixers have won four out of eight games, Stars, on the other hand, have only managed to win two out of seven matches. Both teams now would look to carry the winning momentum forward.
Speaking about the Head-to-Head contests, both have clashed in 18 matches so far in the history of the BBL and Sixers have dominated Stars thus far. Stars have emerged victorious on 11 occasions while Melbourne have tasted victory only seven times.
Notably, Sixers have won the BBL title thrice while Melbourne are yet to lift the coveted trophy. To make matters worse for Melbourne, they have lost their last seven games to Sixers.

Glenn Maxwell leads the batting chart with 676 runs as far as the duels between both franchises are concerned. He is followed by Moises Henriques (455 runs) and Josh Philippe (324 runs).
In the bowling department, Ben Dwarshuis has snared the most scalps (18 wickets) in the contests between both sides followed by Steve O’Keefe (17 wickets) and Sean Abbott (14 wickets).
Both sides last met in match no. 15 of BBL 12 in Sydney where Sixers defeated Stars with ease. Batting first, Stars posted 150/5 on the board in their allotted 20 overs courtesy of a single handed brilliance from Beau Webster (78).
In reply, Moises Henriques’ gutsy fifty, along with handy contributions from other batters helped Sixers achieve a seven-wicket win over Stars.
