Sydney Thunder locked horns with Sydney Sixers for the second time in Match No. 34th of the ongoing 13th edition of the Big Bash League (BBL) on Saturday, Friday, January 12, 2024, at the famous Sydney Cricket Ground.
The previous meeting between the same two sides in the current campaign ended with no result. However, the Sixers did manage to clinch a victory over their neighbors at the famous and historic SCG. With 12 points, the Sixers are positioned third in the table and have already qualified for the knockouts.
On the other hand, it has been a disappointing campaign for Thunder as they have played eight matches with just one victory to their name. They have lost six games and have been eliminated from the thirteenth season of Big Bash League.

Daniel Hughes has smashed the most runs (497) in these fixtures followed by all-rounder Moises Henriques (492) and left-handed batter Nic Maddinson (339). In terms of wickets, Sean Abbott leads the chart with 26 scalps followed by Daniel Sams (17) and Ben Dwarshuis (17).
As mentioned above, the Sixers won the Derby (Match No. 34) of BBL 13 by a margin of 19 runs. Josh Philippe and Jordan Silk scored 47 and 35 runs respectively as the Sixers posted a decent total of 151/7 on the board in their allotted 20 overs. In reply, openers David Warner and Alex Hales struck 37 and 28 runs respectivelty but the rest of the batting line-up failed to support them. Veteran spinner Steve O'Keefe was the pick of the Sixers bowlers for his solid spell of 3/13 (4) for which he also won the Player of the Match award. The Thunder got bundled out for 132 in 19.5 overs.
