The Round 4 of Syed Mushtaq Ali trophy concluded on a high note as the audience got the chance to witness a few exciting encounters. Most of the games were devoid of any interventions as the rain did not play spoilsport in the majority of the matches. Most of the matches were low scoring encounters apart from a handful matches where the first-innings score went past 200.
One of the most exciting encounters was between Karnataka and Services where the former posted a mammoth total of 250 runs on the board. Services, while succumbing to the pressure could only post 170 runs on the board. Manish Pandey stole the show for Karnataka by hitting 129 runs off 54 balls at an astounding strike rate of 238.88. He weaved his innings mostly around boundaries and hit 12 fours and 10 sixes.
Another high-scoring match was played between Baroda and Uttarakhand where Devdhar and Co were able to post 201 runs on the board. A brilliant half-century by Deepak Hooda and a quick-fire 47-run cameo by Swapnil Singh propelled Baroda to go past the 200-run mark. Uttarakhand failed to stitch any formidable partnerships and after losing wickets at regular intervals, the side was restricted to a total of 168. Baroda won the match by 33 runs.
The match between Vidarbha and Rajasthan turned out to be a low-scoring yet exciting clash. Deepak Chahar, who grabbed all the headlines after derailing Bangladesh in the third T20I, replicated his performance by picking up four wickets while conceding 18 runs from his three overs. Chahar hit the purple patch yet again as he picked up another hat-trick in a timespan of 48-hours. Vidarbha won the match by a slim margin of 1 run (VJD method).
