On a day where some stunning incidents took place in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, the best one of the lot was Meghalaya giving a knockout punch to Mumbai in their Group D game. In another part of the country, Tripura almost registered the lowest ever team score in T20 history, but some good lower-order performances denied that.

Against Tamil Nadu, Tripura lost track completely as they lost 7 wickets in the first 6 overs, scoring just 9 runs. Sai Kishore and T Natarajan picked up all of these wickets. Saurabh Das and Neelambuj Vats’ partnership of 70 runs for the 9th wicket saw them end with a respectable 79/8 in 20 overs. Tamil Nadu chased the total down in 12.1 overs with 8 wickets to spare.

Perhaps the result of the tournament, Meghalaya, who thus far had a horrendous campaign, stunned the mighty-Mumbai side. Their bowlers did a great job to restrict Mumbai in the first innings to just 157 runs, a score which was relatively less on this track. Dwaraka Ravi Teja and Sanjay Yadav scored the fifties as Meghalaya won the game by 6 wickets and 4 balls remaining.

Baroda are on quite a run this tournament, who currently top Group A with 20 points to their credit. Deepak Hooda and Kedar Devdhar’s exploits with the willow helped Baroda score 195 runs batting first. Services were never in the chase after Rahul Singh departed for a well-made 19-ball 39 and eventually, they were reduced to 160 runs in their 20 overs.

Here are the brief scores from other games that happened.
