The rain did have a say during the 2nd day of the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy 2020-21 as one of the four matches to be played in the Plate Group on Monday got abandoned. Another game played in Chennai part of this group turned out to be a 5-over affair. Sreesanth’s return to professional cricket and Ambati Rayudu’s T20 debut for Andhra were the major talking points on Monday. The day ended with a high-scoring thriller between Madhya Pradesh and Goa in Indore.

Here are all the statistical highlights from the 9 completed matches on the 2nd day of the tournament:

1 – Ambati Rayudu became the first player to lead four different teams in the history of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Rayudu has been the skipper of Hyderabad, Baroda and Vidarbha teams before making his T20 debut for Andhra as a captain on Monday.

Rayudu is also only the 3rd player to represent five different teams in the SMA T20 Trophy history as he played for the South Zone team and four domestic teams in the form of Hyderabad, Baroda, Vidarbha and Andhra. Amit Verma and K Arun Karthik are the other two players to play for five sides in this tournament.

2 – Only the 2nd time Shikhar Dhawan played in a T20 match for the Delhi team as captain. The other such instance was during the 2006-07 season domestic T20 tournament game against Services. Between these matches, Dhawan played as many as 16 T20s as captain of the Sunrisers Hyderabad; all across CLT20 2013 and IPL 2014.

60 – The game against Puducherry was the first appearance of S Sreesanth for Kerala in the Twenty20 format since October 2010. Sreesanth had to miss as many as 60 T20 games played by Kerala in this period; the 2nd most number of T20s missed by any player for an Indian domestic T20 team. Vikas Mishra missed 73 successive matches of Delhi in this format between March 2011 and November 2019.

The duo of Rajat and Venkatesh added 156 for the 3rd wicket which is by far the biggest T20 stand of Madhya Pradesh for any wicket. Their previous highest was 114 for the opening wicket against Meghalaya in the 2019-20 season.
