After a day’s break, the T20 Blast 2019 was back with two exciting games of cricket. Both these games were extremely high-scoring ones. The big-hitting prowess of the players did nothing but left the fans in absolute awe. Out of the four innings on the day, three of them witnessed scores over 200.

Middlesex skipper Dawid Malan even registered a mind-boggling century. Tom Kohler-Cadmore also got extremely close to the triple digits. However, he and his team ran out of overs and thus, he fell four runs short. Moreover, Nicholas Pooran was at his best on the day and impressed everyone with his ability.

Leicestershire vs Yorkshire – North Group

As a fan, you’d regret not being at the stadium for this match. A total of 31 sixes and plenty of boundaries were hit in this game. Yorkshire, after being put in to bat first, got off to that kind of start that they’d have never dreamt of. Adam Lyth scored 69 runs off only 35 balls before he got out after putting up a partnership of 116 in 10.1 overs for the opening wicket. Then, Nicholas Pooran took over with a terrific 28-ball 67 while Tom Kohler-Cadmore was unbeaten on 96 off 54. These three knocks catapulted the innings total to a mammoth 255/2 in 20 overs.

It was an improbable target to chase but Leicestershire didn’t give up without putting up a fight. Opener Mark Cosgrove played an uncharacteristic knock where he scored 31 off 29 balls. But the remaining batsmen played aggressive cricket and tried to help the team get close to the target. However, none could stay in the middle for a long time. Arron Lilley’s 24-ball 47 and Lewis Hill’s 28-ball 49 were impressive and helped the team get past 200.

Brief Scores:

YORKS: 255/2 in 20 overs (Tom Kohler-Cadmore 96*, Adam Lyth 69, Dieter Klein 1/40)

LEIC: 201/4 in 20 overs (Lewis Hill 49*, Arron Lilley 47, Jordan Thompson 1/19)

Result: Yorkshire won by 54 runs.

Surrey vs Middlesex – South Group

This game was all about the heroics of Dawid Malan after his team won the toss and batted first. He led his side from the front with a brilliant knock where he mustered 117 runs from only 57 balls. His opening partner Stevie Eskinazi scored 42 runs while George Scott got 35 towards the end of the innings. AB de Villiers missed out in this match as Imran Tahir got the better of him. The former South African cricketer could only score 3 runs.

Chasing a target of 210, Surrey lost both the openers, Aaron Finch and Will Jacks, early. A 47 from Ollie Pope and 31 from Tom Curran along with some other contributions helped them get to 172/9 in 20 overs. The side fell short of the target by 37 runs as Toby Roland-Jones picked up a four-wicket haul.

Brief Scores:

MDX: 209/3 in 20 overs (Dawid Malan 117, Stevie Eskinazi 42, Tom Curran 2/29)

SUR: 172/9 in 20 overs (Ollie Pope 47, Tom Curran 31, Toby Roland-Jones 4/35)

Result: Middlesex won by 37 runs.
