Twin brothers playing cricket has been a rarity. And those twin brothers, playing for different teams, dismissing the same batsman in the same fashion must be more than a rarity. This is what has happened with twin Parkinson brothers. Callum Parkinson and Matt Parkinson have managed to dismiss Nottinghamshire batsman Alex Hales in the same way during the T20 Blast that concluded on Sunday.

Callum, the left-arm spinner, plays for Leicestershire who faced the Nottinghamshire in the quarter final on October 1. The match ended in a tie with the latter side winning the game having scored more runs in the powerplay. In this game, Callum castled Hales with a beauty of a delivery. The ball pitched in a short of a good length area even as the batsman stayed the leg-side of the ball trying to defend.

However, it turned ever so slightly to stun Hales and disturbed the top of the middle-stump to leave Callum Parkinson in delight. Alex Hales scored only nine runs off 7 balls opening the innings in the chase.

Matt Parkinson’s magical delivery to Alex Hales

Three days later, on the finals day in T20 Blast, Matt Parkinson, the leg-spinner, playing for Lancashire faced Nottinghamshire in an 11 overs per side contest. Chasing 95, Alex Hales scored a quick-fire 95 to get the Notts off to a good start. But Matt, in the fifth over of the innings, bowled a similar delivery like his twin brother to castle the England batsman.

It was a proper leg-spinning delivery which pitched on the middle stump line as Hales looked to defend it on the front foot. But the ball turned enough to go past his bat and hit the off-stump. If both the dismissals are watched together, it looks exactly same and the brothers will be proud that they have managed to get the wicket of the batsman of the stature of Hales.

Here’s the video:

Both Callum and Matt Parkinson played crucial roles for their team in the T20 Blast this season ending up as the highest wicket-taker for the team. While Matt, the leggie, picked 15 wickets in 11 matches, his twin brother, the left-arm orthodox spinner, scalped 10 wickets in nine outings for Leicestershire. Among the two, Matt has played 2 ODIs and 3 T20Is so far and will be hoping to represent his country along with his brother at some point in his career.

Unfortunately, Leicestershire and Lancashire couldn’t make it to the final of the T20 Blast while Nottinghamshire ended up winning the title defeating Surrey.
