T20 World Cup 2021: Ben Stokes predicts England to face Pakistan in the final of the tournament

The Pakistan cricket team has been on a roll in the 2021 edition of the T20 World Cup. The Babar Azam-led outfit has won all the 3 matches that it has played and is placed at the top of the points table in Group 2.

On the other hand, England too, have started their campaign on a rousing note, and are unbeaten in the tournament as well, after playing 2 matches. And now, England all-rounder Ben Stokes has already predicted the finalists of the tournament.

Stokes took to Twitter and wondered whether Pakistan and England will play the summit clash of the competition. “England vs Pakistan Final ???,” tweeted Ben Stokes.

Pakistan beat Afghanistan by 5 wickets

The Pakistan side beat the Afghanistan outfit in their third match of the Super 12 stages of the tournament on 29th October 2021. Batting first, Afghanistan posted a total of 147/6 on the board. In reply, Pakistan chased down the target with 5 wickets to spare, with Asif Ali helping his side to victory by scoring 25* off just 7 deliveries.

On the other hand, England decimated the Bangladesh side in their second match of the Super 12 stages. Wielding the willow first, the Bangladesh outfit could only manage a total of 124/9 in their 20 overs.

In reply, Jason Roy scored a rampaging 38-ball 61 at the top of the order as Eoin Morgan and his men chased down the target with 8 wickets in the kitty. Both Pakistan and England have already won the T20 World Cup once. While Pakistan emerged as the champions in the 2009 edition of the tournament, England won the T20 World Cup title in the year 2010.

Eoin Morgan and his men will next be seen in action against their arch-rivals Australia on 30th October 2021 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. Pakistan will take the field in their 4th Super 12 game on 2nd November 2021, against the Namibia side.
