In what can be called another low-scoring thriller in the T20 World Cup 2021, Namibia defeated Scotland by four wickets at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi. It wasn’t really a comprehensive victory for the Namibian side as they faced several inroads while chasing 110. However, they would be satisfied as this was their first-ever assignment in the Super 12 stage of the global T20 competition.

Speaking of how the game unfolded, Namibia won the toss and opted to bowl in Abu Dhabi. The Scottish side was pushed on the backfoot straightaway as Ruben Trumpelmann dismantled George Munsey’s stumps in the very first ball of the match. In fact, Trumpelmann went on to take three wickets in the first over, breaking the backbone of the Scottish side. However, Michael Leask played some fine shots in the end overs as Scotland crawled to 109/8.

Although the target was modest, Namibia’s chase wasn’t smooth by any means. Openers Craig Williams and Michael van Lingen did make some handy contributions at the top. However, the regular fall of wickets kept Scotland interested till the very last. At one stage, Scotland seemed like crossing the line. However, JJ Smit’s quick-fire knock meant Namibia crossed the line with five balls to spare.
