Ever since last year, speculations surrounding the souring relationship between Indian skipper Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have been doing the rounds. The topic spiced up more after India’s World Cup semi-final defeat at the hands of New Zealand in Manchester. The fact that Rohit unfollowed both Virat and Anushka Sharma, the latter’s wife, on Instagram added fuel to fire.

Even the legendary Sunil Gavaskar reckoned that the story of Virat and Rohit’s story won’t stop even if they shout from the rooftops as much as they can. Gavaskar said that when Rohit will get out, there will be those, who will believe that he got out knowingly. Prior to India’s tour of the West Indies, Virat said that he is absolutely baffled by the talks and rubbished all the rumours.

In the meantime, Virender Sehwag, the former Indian cricketer, spoke on the matter and said that making baseless assumptions that there’s something wrong between Virat and Rohit is no less than stupidity. Sehwag told that there’s not enough proof to come to any sort of conclusion.

I don’t know which media source has given everyone such information

“If four people live in a family, it is not necessary that they all eat food together or even go out together, but during a function, they are all seen together. So, to assume that Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have not gone out to eat together and come to conclusions that they had a fight is wrong.

“Till they don’t come and tell about a rift, or there are enough proofs about it, till then you can’t say anything,” Sehwag was quoted as saying in an exclusive interview with DNA web. Sehwag was present at the Umeed India book launch in Mumbai.

Back in 2012, reports of a brawl between MS Dhoni, the former Indian captain, and Sehwag also made the headlines. It happened during a tri-series in Australia where Dhoni didn’t want to play three seniors, also including Sachin Tendulkar and Gautam Gambhir. Even as Sehwag concerned, that there’s nothing between him and Dhoni, he also said that Rohit and Virat are on good terms.

“There were even talks about fights between me and MS Dhoni, but there were no disputes between us. I don’t know which media source has given everyone such information. I can only comment on the topic if I can get a confirmation that there really is a rift between Kohli and Rohit. But according to me, I don’t think there is any fight between the two,” he added.
