Tamil Nadu squad for Ranji fixture against Odisha announced

The Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) has announced the 16 man squad for the upcoming Ranji Trophy fixture against Odisha. The Group C encounter will take place at Cuttack commencing on November 9. The match will be a big challenge for the strong Tamil Nadu outfit as they will head in to the game without the services of their senior players Murali Vijay and Ravichandran Ashwin.

Both Ashwin and Vijay will be joining the Indian team for the Test series against Sri Lanka that kicks off on November 16. Along with Ashwin and Vijay, the other big name that will not be a part of the TN side is Dinesh Karthik. The exit of the big players from the side has certainly opened the doors for the rookie players.

Off-spinner Malolan Rangarajan has been drafted in the squad for the match and is being seen as the like for like replacement of R Ashwin. Meanwhile, rookie pace bowler V Lakshman has also earned a place in the Tamil Nadu squad for the match. Lakshman was a part of the team for the first two matches of the series.

He, however, was dropped from the most recent fixture of the TN side. Commenting on the status of the points table, Tamil Nadu are placed third in Group C with three drawn matches in as many appearances. They are yet to register a win in the season. Among the notable mentions in the squad, the names of Yo Mahes, Abhinav Mukund, Vijay Shankar are the most prominent ones.
