Seasoned opening batsman Tamim Iqbal missed out on the first game of his franchise in the 2017 edition of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). Tamim is set to play for his new franchise, Comilla Victorians, in this edition of the T20 league. He was not a part of the playing eleven in the opening encounter against Sylhet. Now, there were some dark clouds over his participation in the next fixture of the Victorians.
The speculations sort of came to an end when Tamim Iqbal was seen attending the net sessions recently. However, the head coach of the Comilla Victorians, Mohammad Salahuddin, is in no mood to rush the veteran campaigner in to action. As per the recent quotes in Cricbuzz, he mentioned that the decision to play or not is solely dependent on the player himself.
He rightly conceded that if Tamim feels fit and capable of going in to the ground, he will take the field. The team management, under no circumstance, will force him. He, however, conceded that the team camp hopes to see him fit for the Dhaka leg of the premier T20 competition.
“The decision of his return entirely depends on him. We would not force him to do anything and would wait when he feels the time is right for him to play. We hope to have his service from the Dhaka phase and we don’t want to take any chance with him right at the moment,” quoted the Victorains’ coach.
Clearance from BCB Physio
Meanwhile, there have been reports about Tamim’s participation being subjected to a clearance from the national team physio. Tamim Iqbal had injured his thigh during the recently concluded tour of South Africa. He was sent back home after the conclusion of the ODI series to take medication. He had missed the 2-match T20I series on the tour.
