The 1st Test match between the hosts Bangladesh and the Aussies definitely registered its self as a remarkable and thrilling encounter. The show which was dominated by spinners from both the sides, as they claimed 34 out of the 40 wickets in the match. On the other hand, a terrific and incredible run-show in both the innings by the Tigers opener Tamim Iqbal cannot be ignored. The left-hander displayed some absolutely stylish stroke-making along with his aggressive batting style.

Tamim credited former Indian captain MS Dhoni for his recent success and consistency at the international level in the past few years. The experienced opener had a great run in the Champions Trophy 2017 in England, which helped his side secure a place in the semi-finals of the prolific tournament.

He continued his form in the 1st Test match against the Steve Smith-led Australian team with fifty-plus scores in both the innings, which helped Bangladesh eventually win the game by 20 runs. The aggressive opener considers the former Indian skipper as an inspiration as he has learnt the importance of patience and calmness in the game, from him.

Dhoni’s suggestion helped me

Tamim revealed that MS Dhoni‘s statements in an interview helped him a lot facing the pressure situations and the low points in the cricketing career.

“I read an interview of MS Dhoni in which he said that Cricket is a very brutal game. When you are out of form and aren’t getting the runs everything will start acting brutally. You would meet the best bowler in the crease. You would play a great shot but would find it unfortunately in the hand of opponent’s fielder. Even the worst fielder of opponent would take a one handed catch. That’s why in my tough time I just tried to keep patience and avoid the expensive mistakes,” said an inspired Tamim on his learnings from the Indian wicketkeeper-batsman.

The Bangladeshi star has shifted his focus to the upcoming challenge against the Aussies in the 2nd Test which is scheduled to start on Monday and expects the opposition to come hard in the decider of the two-match Test series.
