The Steve Smith-led Australian side was at the receiving end when the Bangladeshi Test team achieved a landmark win against the Aussies in the 1st Test match at Dhaka. It was the first time when the Tigers had defeated the Australian team in their history of the longest format of the game. On the other hand, the Aussies once again failed to put a complete performance in the sub-continental part of the world. The Australian media also slammed the players for the dismal performance in the 1st Test of the two-match Test series.

Australians slammed for their recent strike on pay dispute

The hosts thrashed the visitors by 20 runs to claim a 1-0 lead, in a thrilling 1st Test of the two-match Test series in Dhaka. The Australian media blasted the cricketers who were paid more than enough, as per the recent reports, should contribute much more for a satisfactory and above-par performance. The media also pointed to the fact that the winning opposition team players are being paid less amount in comparison to the Aussie cricketers.

“Australia, if you’re going to go strike over their pay packets, you want to make sure you back it up in the field of play. Losing to Bangladesh is hardly doing that. The hapless 11 who became the first Australian team to lose a Test to Bangladesh will be paid an average of Aus$1.36 million from Cricket Australia this financial year, or about Aus$26,000 a week,” said the Melbourne Herald-Sun, as quoted by the source Deccan Chronicle.

“The team that humiliated them on a turning pitch are paid average salaries of just Aus$26,136, or about Aus$500 a week,” further added the media.

Wonderful day for cricket

The media also congratulated and praised the home team for its incredible performance and also stated the victory as a positive step towards the betterment of the cricketing world. “What happened in Dhaka was, on one hand, wonderful for world cricket and on the other embarrassing for a pack of overpaid prima donnas,” said the media.

The Aussie batters yet again looked shattered playing at the turning sub-continent tracks.  “Australia can’t win in Asia anymore. We play sub optimal cricket on the subcontinent. Our batsmen have developed an almost fatal dust allergy,” said the Australian cricket writer, Peter Lalor.

The Aussie media termed the defeat as a humiliating one and also blasted the players for the inglorious outing against the ninth ranked Test side in the ICC rankings.
