Team India continued their merry run in the longest format of the game. The Virat Kohli-led side beat Sri Lanka by a thumping margin of an innings and 171 run in the third and final Test of the 3-match series. With the win, they completed a historic whitewash to reinstate their domination in Test cricket. They continue to top the charts in the ICC Test rankings with a country mile lead compared to the other teams that follow.

In the third Test, it was brilliant batting from Shikhar Dhawan and Hardik Pandya who helped India post a mammoth total of 487 on the board. The Sri Lankan team, in their response, succumbed like ten pins in both the innings and failed to cross the 200-run mark in either of the two innings.

This pretty much summed up the way Indian team had dominated the series. They started off in a similar note when a 600 total was staged riding on Shikhar Dhawan’s brilliant 191 in the first Test. Later, the bowlers chipped in with Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja making merry as they have been doing throughout the season.

In the next game, it was another superlative batting show by the Indian team that helped them register another innings victory. The third Test followed the same protocol again. All in all, it was a complete team performance and India thoroughly justified the tag of being the number one team in the format.

Soon after the presentation ceremony for the series got over, the players took to the social media platform Twitter to express their happiness over the superlative effort. From Indian skipper Virat Kohli to the fielding coach R Sridhar, everyone tweeted the good wishes for the team and expressed their happiness.
