Manoj Tiwary has been one of the many unlucky cricketer in India who hasn’t got enough chances at the highest level. He played only 12 ODIs and 3 T20Is over the course of seven years before being ignored since 2015. No wonder he is gutted every time he isn’t considered for national team despite doing well consistently in domestic circuit. For the same reason, Tiwary wants the selection meetings to be aired live.

Previously, a lot of conversations have been leaked from the selection meetings. However, nobody apart from a few people really know what happens behind the closed doors. Ambati Rayudu not getting selected for the World Cup last year was one of the huge controversies.

The Bengal cricketer cited that airing the selection meetings live will help everyone understand if a particular player’s selection if fair or not. He also stated a player never knows the reason for getting dropped as well. “Team selections should be aired live, so that everyone can see which selector is taking which player’s name on which grounds. It will help us assess if the selection is fair or not.

“Normally, what happens is that when we players ask the selectors about why we were ignored, they tend to blame each other for it. So, to make things clear, it’s necessary that the selection meeting is telecast live,” Manoj Tiwary said while speaking to ABP Live in an Instagram chat.

Manoj Tiwary takes a dig at selectors over No.4 issue

The 34-year-old also took a dig at the selectors over the infamous No.4 issue in the Indian team citing the fact that they couldn’t find one solid player at the position in four years. He also went on to add that the same problem came back to haunt India in the World Cup semi-final last year.

“They had four years to find a good No 4, still they couldn’t. Somewhere, we suffered due to this blunder in the World Cup semis. When they had so much time to finalise a man for the slot, this confusion shouldn’t have happened. It shows that the selection lacked consistency,” Tiwary further said.
