Without an iota of doubt, one can say that 2020 has been a year of unexpected things. Even the sporting world has witnessed quite a few abnormal events. For example, Liverpool winning the Premier League and Dominic Thiem winning a Grand Slam are a couple of them. And it is not limited to that only as now the cricketing spectrum is also witnessing such events.

The destination is none other than the IPL 2020. In its 13th year, the tournament is still finding new ways to enchant the audience. It has already given five Super-Over ties and a dozen of last-over finishes. Apart from that, this year the fans have also seen the most consistent side of the IPL history, Chennai Super Kings implode. One never expects a team led by MS Dhoni floundering under pressure, but it is exactly what is happening in this year’s IPL.

The Chennai Super Kings are losing games from winning situations. They are unable to finish the games, which have been the hallmark of their IPL legacy. Eventually, it has brought them to a point where now they are on the verge of becoming the first team to get eliminated from IPL 2020. So one can expect a lot of changes in the upcoming season. The franchise might find themselves busy at the auction table, not a common sight. They will be eyeing for different players to rebuild their side in the post-Dhoni era.

Here is the list of Team-wise one player whom CSK should target in the next IPL auction :

1) Mumbai Indians – Quinton de Kock

The Mumbai Indians will be a little disappointed with their heartbreaking loss to Kings XI Punjab. In that game, the team had its moments to bag two points and officially become the first team to qualify for the playoffs in IPL 2020. Unfortunately, a couple of things didn’t go as per their plans, and now they will have to wait till their next tie against arch-rivals, Chennai Super Kings.

They may have lost the momentum, but there is no doubt that this Mumbai side will bounce back in no time. The reason being the overall balance of the Rohit Sharma led-side. They have match-winners throughout their line-up. Starting from Quinton de Kock in batting to Jasprit Bumrah in bowling, they have a playing XI, which many will envy for. That’s why the franchise will have to make some tough decisions before the next auctions.

They might also have to let go of a player of Quinton’s caliber. The South African keeper-batsman has been on a roll with three consecutive half-centuries in his last three outings. He is also Mumbai’s leading run-scorer in this season with 322 runs in 9 games. And in the last season also he stacked up 500 runs. Still, he might not be retained by the franchise in the coming auctions as the team will be sticking to their core of Sharma, Bumrah, Kieron Pollard, and Pandya brothers.

Well, in that case, CSK should throw in the dice for Quinton. He can solve a whole lot of Chennai’s problems. His keeping and opening skills will be one. The other is his leadership skills, as the Yellow team desperately needs a visionary leader in their rebuilding phase. De Kock is termed one of the smartest brains, and he will be an invaluable asset for the franchise.
