Former England batsman Kevin Pietersen is facing the heat on Twitter after his distasteful tweet on India’s comprehensive win over England in the second Test at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. India thrashed the visitors by 317 runs in the lopsided contest to draw level in the four-match series.

Faced with an improbable task of chasing 482 on a deteriorating pitch, England lost all 10 wickets to spin. The hosts bowled out the visitors for just 164 to register the thumping win. Barring captain Joe Root, who faced 92 balls for his 33, no other England batsman managed to provide any notable resistance. Towards the end, Moeen Ali played an entertaining knock of 43 off only 18 balls.

For India, debutant left-arm spinner Axar Patel claimed 5 for 60, while Ravichandran Ashwin and Kuldeep Yadav picked up three and two wickets respectively. Earlier in the game, India had scored 329 in their first innings after winning the toss and deciding to bat first. Rohit Sharma had starred with the bat, scoring 161.

Ajinkya Rahane and Rishabh Pant had scored fifties too. In reply, England were all out for just 134 with Ashwin taking five wickets. In the second innings, India scored 286 with Ashwin scoring a century and skipper Virat Kohli scoring a fine fifty.

Kevin Pietersen brutally trolled

As soon as the game ended, Kevin Pietersen took to Twitter to react to India’s huge win. The legendary batsman did congratulate India but also took a cheeky dig at their victory by saying that the hosts beat England’s B team. The visitors were without some big names for the game like James Anderson, Jofra Archer, Jonny Bairstow and Jos Buttler. While Archer missed the game because of an injury, the others were rested.

“Badhai ho india,England B Ko harane ke liye,” wrote Kevin Pietersen.

Unsurprisingly, Kevin Pietersen’s tweet did not go down well with the Indian fans and they did not waste any time in berating him. While some pointed out that Pietersen was hurt with India’s win, some were quick to remind the former cricketer about India’s win in Australia last month where the team missed most of the big names due to different reasons.
