The willow bashed the leather on many strokes of the minute hand. The summer witnessed some thrilling contests while the dusk celebrated some fine individual performances. From South Africa to Australia to India to West Indies, Test teams had an eventful year, 2015. Some won matches on the trot while a few streaks were broken; new records were written and those standing for years were bettered. Today, we take a close look at how the teams faired in whites this year. Here are the Test team ratings for the year 2015.
1. South Africa – 5.5/10:
A 2-0 win over West Indies helped South Africa take the Sir Vivian Richards Trophy without much fuss. They moved to Chittagong, Bangladesh to continue their good run but once again it was their “old foe” rain that spoiled the party. The first Test match witnessed two washout days while the second Test had only one days play. Bangladesh did show some fight and threatened to pull the triggers but the series resulted in a draw with six washout days.
They toured India later, performing well in the shorter formats but failed to make a mark in the Test series. They were beaten comprehensively, as the hosts had their hands on the silverware after a 3-0 sweep over the number one ranked side. SA ended the year at another low losing the Boxing Day Test to touring England.
