Three-time champion Chennai Super Kings have been battling against tough times for quite some time now. Last week, the team was jolted when the 13 members of their contingent including two players namely Deepak Chahar and Ruturaj Gaikwad tested positive for the novel coronavirus. Adding to the misery, their mainstream batsman Suresh Raina abruptly decided to pull out his name from the cash-rich league citing personal reasons.

The team received another massive blow when the veteran spinner Harbhajan Singh also decided to not be a part of the 2020 edition of the Indian Premier League. Yellow Army started their training camp on September 4 after completing the extended quarantine period and testing negative in the rounds of coronavirus tests conducted.

Despite these challenges, the management of Chennai Super Kings is hopeful that they will be able to register a victory for the fourth time in the T20 Championship under the leadership of MS Dhoni. As per the IPL schedule, CSK will be up against Mumbai Indians in the inaugural match of the league on September 19.

The players are also in quite a good spirit: Kasi Viswanathan

In a video uploaded on the official twitter handle of Chennai Super Kings, CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan reckoned that the players are in good spirits and are ready to shine in the cash-rich league. He also expressed his confidence in MS Dhoni saying that ‘Thalaivan’ will take care of the team in the UAE.

“This is to confirm that the team is in very good shape, we need not worry. We have a skipper who have navigated us through very tough times. Thalaivan will definitely take care of the team and we are very confident, we have started practice from yesterday, a day before,” said the CSK CEO.

“The players are also in quite a good spirit. They have had regular Zoom meetings where the coach and captain have addressed the players and all of them are in a good frame of mind. We will come out of the tough situation and very happy to report that team is in very good shape to take care of the matches coming up in the IPL,” he added.

Chennai is a very popular team of the Indian league and enjoys a massive fan base. The CEO urged the fans to keep supporting the team and players with their love. He also highlighted the importance of the loyal fans in CSK’s journey in the history of the cash-rich league.

“I am very confident that the Chennai Super Kings fan club will definitely look up to the team which is very confident of doing well and I sure that the ‘yellow fever’ will catch up throughout the country and also in Dubai where we have a very good following. Fans of CSK are very important to the team and we look forward to your support,” said Viswanathan.
