‘Thanks big boss’ – Virat Kohli gives a heartwarming reply to Sir Vivian Richards

In the T20I series opener, Virat Kohli played a sensational knock of 94* runs off 50 balls that helped his side register an emphatic win over West Indies in Hyderabad. After the match, many cricketing greats hailed the Indian skipper for his brilliant batting display. Out of all the accolades, the most special compliment came from none other than Sir Vivian Richards. The Indian captain also acknowledged it with a heartwarming reply.

When Virat Kohli took the guard against West Indies, his side was under the pressure of chasing down a mammoth total of 208 runs. The Indian skipper struggled in the first couple of overs to score runs at a good strike rate. However, Kohli retaliated after a few overs and steered India to the victory with eight balls remaining.

After KL Rahul’s (62) dismissal in the 13th over the whole responsibility came onto the shoulders of Virat Kohli to sail down his team to a win in the 1st T20I. Kohli didn’t let down his fans’ expectations and won the match for his side. The 31-year-old played several mesmerizing strokes during his unbeaten knock of 94 runs. One stroke that was the highlight of his innings was a brilliant flick on a full-ish delivery off medium-pace bowler Kesrick Williams in the 16th over. The flick was timed so well that the ball went for a six.

In Kohli’s career-best knock in T20 Internationals, he smashed six fours and the same number of sixes. He was also awarded with the Man of the Match award for his stellar knock.

After the conclusion of the thrilling encounter, the former West Indies cricketer Sir Vivian Richards took to his Twitter handle and hailed Virat Kohli for his fascinating batting display against West Indies. His tweet read, “Amazing. Just amazing, @imVkohli.”

It was not the first occasion that the former West Indian player has praised Virat Kohli for his batting. Earlier, in a couple of media interactions, Vivian Richard had opened up about his liking for the way Indian skipper bats and dominates the bowlers.
