India couldn't stand tall in front of Australia in the series opener in Sydney

The much-awaited series between India and its arch-rival Australia kicked off yesterday in the Sydney Cricket Ground. The hosts started their domination on the very first day itself as they won the match by good 66 runs. Batting first, the Kangaroos came with a fierce batting show as they posted massive 374 runs on the board. Their batting dominance got defined by two brilliant centuries that came in their account on the back of Steve Smith and Aaron Finch.

In return, India was only able to post 308 runs on the board. Shikhar Dhawan and Hardik Pandya became the flag bearers of India’s batting set up as they gave in their best to chase the big score. Keeping aside the game, India’s new kit for their limited over series matches has turned all the heads these days. It is done in the dominant shades of royal blue with stripes of light blue, green, red, and white. Dhawan gave its very first glimpse a few days ahead of the ODI series, and subsequently, other players also posted their pictures of the same on their social media.

Before the start of their series, the official Instagram handle of the Indian Cricket team posted a picture of the team in the new jersey. England pacer Stuart Broad seemed to be impressed by India’s new attire and posted his comment on the same picture. He added- “That kit is amazing” with a fire symbol.

The new retro-style jersey gave glimpses of India’s jersey back in 1992 and has stolen much limelight. It would be great to see if India could mark their dominance in Australia with their new kit. The next ODI between the two cricketing giants is scheduled for November 29. India could shine to its very best in the series opener.

India missed the services of hitman Rohit Sharma while chasing the humongous score. Also, skipper Virat Kohli failed to fetch anything significant for his team at a crucial moment. The team started stumbling midway, and the huge target in front only felt like a dream.
