While an interaction with current head coach Anil Kumble, who has reapplied for the post he holds right now, may have to wait till the end of the league stage of the Champions Trophy, the BCCI appointed Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) consisting of Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly and VVS Laxman is likely to meet for a meeting today at the Royal Garden Hotel.

The meeting is expected to be convened by BCCI CEO Rahul Johri and it has been learnt that the reason for the meeting is to read the minds of the three key members of the committee. Initially, VVS Laxman was not going to arrive in London but it has been learnt that he has reached as well. Virender Sehwag, one of the candidates, has flown back to India and will be interviewed over Skype.  As for the new bowling coach of the team, the plan is to leave it to the new coach. Kumble apparently is not interested in a bowling coach as yet, as per Mumbai Mirror.

Given that team India has enjoyed a lot of success during Kumble’s one year tenure, it becomes imperative for the selectors to reappoint him as the coach even if India is unable to defend its Champions Trophy title from 2013. However, amidst all the speculations of a rift between Kumble and captain Virat Kohli, another news has emerged which doesn’t show great signs for Kumble’s extension as the head coach.

Indian players against Kumble’s extension

It was learnt from DNA India that as many as 10 players from the current Indian team are against Kumble’s extension since they claim he has been too dominating a coach and there has been a clash of egos within the team. But if egos are to be kept aside, Kumble, under whom India became the ICC No. 1 team in Tests, deserves another go at his job.
