The Hundred: Teams, logos, local players, men and women cricketers unveiled for the tournament

The rest of the squads will now be decided at the first-ever player draft in English cricket.

The mini-draft of the fledgling format- The Hundred – is over and the identities of English stars and Local icons have been revealed. The Men and Women competition will be played side-by-side. Each of the eight teams in the competition was able to pick one England red-ball contracted player and two local icons on Thursday.

Here’s how the eight teams are shaping-up after the mini-draft

1. Northern SuperChargers

English all-rounder Ben Stokes has been snapped up by the Northern Superchargers- a Headingley-based team- which represents Yorkshire and Durham, ahead of Joe Root and Jonny Bairstow, who will play for the Trent Rockets and Welsh Fire respectively. England Women Internationals and centrally contracted players in Lauren Winfield and Linsey Smith will represent the Women franchise. Leg-spinner Adil Rashid and all-rounder David Willey have been chosen as the local icons.

2. Oval Invincibles

Discarded Test opener Jason Roy and his Surrey team-mate Sam Curran, along with Tom Curran have been chosen as the local icons and the men’s contract pic for the London-based Oval Invincibles. As far as Women’s centrally contracted player goes, Laura Marsh and Fran Wilson are the chosen ones to represent the franchise.

3. Southern Brave

Southern Brave has chosen the flavor of the season: Jofra Archer, as their red-ball contracted player. Archer will be joined by James Vince and fast bowler Chris Jordan, who has been selected as the Marquee local players. The Women’s centrally contracted players include tearaway opener Danielle Wyatt and fast bowler Anya Shrubsole.

4. Trent Rockets

The Rockets have roped in England’s Test skipper and Yorkshireman Joe Root as their centrally contracted red-ball player while the local stars that’ll represent the franchise are Alex Hales and Harry Gurney. All-rounder Natalie Sciver and Katherine Brunt have been chosen to represent the Women’s team.

5. Welsh Fire

Yorkshireman and the current Test discard, Jonny Bairstow will be the face of the Welsh Fire franchise. Bairstow will be joined by local icons in Tom Banton and former South African International Colin Ingram. The Women’s centrally contracted players are Katie George and Bryony Smith.

6. Birmingham Phoenix

As far as picking icon player was concerned, Moeen Ali was a no-brainer. The English all-rounder has been the bedrock of Birmingham Beers in the T20 Blast, spearheading the team with both bat and ball. Alongside Moeen, Pat Brown has been chosen as the other Marquee local player while all-rounder Chris Woakes is the red-ball contracted player pic. As far as the Women’s team is concerned, Amy Jones and Kirstie Gordon will lead the pack.

7. London Spirit

The London-based franchise has chosen English Test opener Rory Burns as their red-ball contacted player while Dan Lawrence and England’s World Cup-winning skipper Eoin Morgan has been chosen as the two local Marquee players.

8. Manchester Originals

The Originals- a Manchester-based franchise- have signed tearaway Wicket-keeper batsman, Jos Buttler, as their marquee English red-ball cricketer while fast bowler Saqib Mahmood and Matt Parkinson have been added as the local icons.

Sophie Ecclestone and Kate Cross will lead the Women’s franchise.
