Oval Invincibles put out a dominating display against the London Spirit in Match 19 of the Hundred Women‘s 2022 fixture at the Lord’s in London. With the win, the Oval Invincibles have moved to the second position in the points table with four wins in five games while the London Spirit have lots to worry about as they are at the bottom of the points table with just one win.

Earlier in the game, the Oval Invincibles opted to bowl first after winning the toss and openers Beth Mooney and Dannielle Gibson were removed quickly by Mady Villiers. Shabnim Ismail dismissed Sophie Luff for just 1 and the London Spirit were reduced to 4 for 3. Amelia Kerr and Charlotte Dean stitched a small partnership together.  However, once the duo were removed, it looked like curtains for the London Spirit side.

Mady Villiers came again for another spell and got through the defences of Naomi Dattani and Grace Scrivens to end up with a four-wicket haul. Eva Gray and Ismail cleaned up the tail as the London Spirit were bundled up for 80. Villiers finished with 4 for 12 in her outstanding spell while Gray and Ismail picked up two wickets each.

Lauren Winfield’s Hill unbeaten knock takes Oval Invincibles Women home

Chasing a relatively low total, the openers Lauren Winfield Hill and Suzie Bates got off to a flying start and picked up a lot of boundaries straightaway. Bates was dismissed after a 20-ball 31 that included four fours and one six while Winfield Hill kept finding the gaps with a lot of precisive stroke play. Alice Capsey took her time while Winfield Hill remained unbeaten on 44 off 28 balls with seven fours at a strike rate of 157.14 to take her side home.

Grace Scrivens was the only bowler to pick up a wicket for the London Spirit as the Oval Invincibles cruised to victory by nine wickets. They managed to get the job done quickly and it helped them to boost their net run rate considerably.
