The secret behind inclusion of Mustafizur Rahman in MI squad revealed

The Mumbai Indians began their preparatory camp to the 11th edition of Indian Premier League. Most of their top guns have arrived in Mumbai and the team is blazing to go. Ahead of the season, Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma revealed the reason why they’ve brought Mustafizur Rahman in the auction.

Mustafizur Rahman, popularly known as the ‘Fizz’ has quickly ascended up the ranks in no time. Ever since his debut against India in 2015, he always continued to impress one and all. He was the chief architect of Bangladesh‘s famous first ever bilateral series win against India. He was also brought by the Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2016 and played an important role in the maiden IPL title triumph.

Just as he appeared to be the next big thing in Bangladesh cricket, injuries put his career on the backfoot. He only played one game for the SRH in IPL 2017 and had to pull out of the tournament. He also lost his sheen with the ball and hasn’t been as effective in the recent times. It was evident that the SRH wouldn’t retain him and it also looked tough for him to bag big bucks in the auction.

Fizz is unpredictable says, Rohit Sharma

The reputation that Fizz has created of late attracted a few bidders for him in the auction. Fizz, who had a base price of INR 1 crore invited some fierce bidding in the IPL auction. Delhi Daredevils and Mumbai Indians went neck in neck to acquire his services for the season. He was finally sold for INR 2.2 crores for the Mumbai Indians.

“Mustafizur, as we have seen in the recent past, he has got great variations in his armory. He’s someone who can be a little unpredictable at times and that is what we want,” said Rohit Sharma. The 30-year old also added that his side doesn’t want to be a predictable team.Hence, he believes Mustafizur will help them in this aspect. “We don’t want to be predictable as a team. Mustafizur brings that to your table. We are looking forward to that,” added Rohit.
