The fifth Test between India and England got cancelled after multiple reports of COVID-19 in the Indian camp. Firstly, Indian head coach Ravi Shastri tested positive for the virus and it was followed by other support staff members testing positive. It is important to note that Ravi Shastri organized his book launch ceremony on September 01 which was attended by Indian skipper Virat Kohli also.

It was only after the same event that Shastri tested positive for the virus and was not seen with India at The Oval. As per reports, even BCCI was unhappy with Kohli and Shastri on the book launch event. However, in the recent turn of events, Shastri responded on the same and added that the whole of the UK is now open and anything could have been possible right from the first Test at Trent Bridge.

“The whole country (United Kingdom) is open. Anything could have happened from Test One,” said Ravi Shastri, while responding to criticism on the book opening saga as quoted by mid-day.

Ravi Shastri lauds India’s performance lately

Moving away with the criticism part, the Indian head coach opened up on the performance of the team lately. Shastri called it the best summer of cricket in England and further went on to praise his team for standing tall and playing some exemplary cricket during testing situations of COVID-19.

He didn’t forget to laud the Indian side for their heroics Down Under and against England too. The head Coach concluded his words by adding that nothing has given him more job satisfaction in the game than being around this set of boys.

“It’s been the best summer of cricket England has seen in a long time certainly from an Indian cricket team. It’s Covid times, awesome summer though. The boys were fantastic on either side of the Thames.

“No team played in Covid times like this Indian team did in Australia and England. Just ask the experts here. Nothing has given me more job satisfaction in the game and I have been around for a bit as you would know,” added Shastri
