Team India wicketkeeper batsman Wriddhiman Saha is all set to get back in action with the Sri Lanka series. Saha is the preferred ‘keeper batsman in the team when it comes to the longest format of the game. He recently scored 97 in a Ranji Trophy fixture for Bengal. Saha, undoubtedly, will have a key role to play when it comes to Tests considering the fact that the Indian team is pondering to play 3 pacers in the line up.

This, in essence, would mean having five bowlers in the team and hence an added responsibility on Wriddhiman Saha to bat cautiously in the lower middle-order. India are lined up for 3 Tests against Sri Lanka at home before heading to South Africa.

While batting and keeping are a part of his game, there is another aspect where the team will be relying on his services. It is about the Decision Review System (DRS) calls. In the limited overs cricket, team India is bestowed with the services on MS Dhoni, who often calls it right in DRS calls.

DRS struggles in Test

However, the DRS struggles for the team in Test cricket needs a solution sometime soon. As per the recent quotes in Sportstarlive, Wriddhiman Saha spoke about the same. He mentioned that the team is very casual in their approach when it comes to DRS. They go with their gut feelings. The slip fielders, usually Shikhar Dhawan or Ajinkya Rahane, chip in with their opinions in such cases.

“We have decided to feel free when taking a call on DRS. If you feel yes there is something tell, if you don’t feel that it is out, say no. It’s not a problem if a call goes wrong. The captain takes the final call. In the slips, Rahane is there when spinners are bowling, Shikhar is there when pacers are bowling. They also give their inputs. There is no reaction if a call goes wrong,” quoted Wriddhiman Saha.
