Queensland had to face an unfortunate incident on their rescheduled trip to Adelaide. Thieves broke into the team van and stole their playing equipment ahead of Thursday’s Sheffield Shield match against Tasmania at Karen Rolton Oval. The van was parked outside the team hotel when the thieves broke the van’s window and stole some playing gears.

Jimmy Peirson, the wicketkeeper of Queensland, took it to his Instagram account to share the image of the van. He stated that he was the unlucky one as his couple of new bats were stolen. The team reported the incident to South Australia police who are looking into the matter with the help of the hotel’s CCTV footage.

The match was postponed earlier due to Covid-19 outbreak

The match was initially staged to start last Tuesday at Ian Healy Oval in Brisbane. However, the game had to be postponed after four Covid-19 positive cases were reported in the city. Tasmania then decided to fly home. The fixture was rescheduled by Cricket Australia to be played this week at Adelaide.

The Queensland players did not have to quarantine and were set free to enter South Australia. However, after their arrival, the squad had to undergo Covid-19 tests on day five and 12 before being allowed to move around in Adelaide freely.

Whether New South Wales and Victoria will be allowed to enter South Australia to resume their Sheffield Shield and Marsh Cup campaigns is yet to be announced by Cricket Australia. New South Wales team was expected to fly to Adelaide on Monday and was supposed to undergo a 14-day hard hotel quarantine. But the South Australian government put the plans on hold.

CA, NSW, and Victoria have been in talks with the South Australian government to reach an agreement. After the mandatory 14-day isolation period, both the states have requested to allow seven days of training for their players. This means that no sides will be able to play until the end of this month or early November.
