Rajasthan Royals (RR) started the 2020 IPL with a couple of resounding victories over the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and the Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium. In both games, they scored in excess of 200 and looked like a team on a mission. In fact, at one point in time, Steve Smith and Co were the only unbeaten team in the tournament after around 10 days.

However, the tables have turned on them ever since then. The Royals have lost four matches in a row and are placed in the bottom-half of the points table. On Friday, October 9, RR lost to the Delhi Capitals (DC) by 46 runs in Sharjah after failing to chase down 185. Electing to field first, the Royals restricted the Capitals to 184. But in the run-chase, they flattered to deceive.

Yashasvi Jaiswal, Steve Smith and Rahul Tewatia scored in the 20s and 30s, but their efforts couldn’t take RR over the finishing line. Going back to September 29, the Royals had trolled the Capitals, though indirectly.

After Shreyas Iyer and Co lost to the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by 15 runs in Abu Dhabi, the Royals were the only team, who were yet to be beaten in the event. The Royals had taken to Twitter and written, “Good night to all fans whose team has a 100% record in #IPL2020 #HallaBol.”

Around 11 days later, the fortunes have turned around for both the teams. Even as the Royals are placed seventh on the points table with two wins from six matches, the Capitals are the current table-toppers with five wins from their first six games. After Friday’s win, they also managed to overhaul Rohit Sharma’s Mumbai Indians (MI), who have four wins, to the top.

This time around, the Capitals, hilariously, trolled back the Royals. They wrote, “This aged weLLLL #RRvDC.”

Here’s DC’s tweet:

On Sunday, October 11, the Capitals are set to face Rohit and Co in the top-of-the-table clash at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi. On the same day, the Royals will be locking horns with the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), hoping to halt their losing streak.
