The India vs New Zealand 2nd ODI was played at the Feroz Shah Kotla stadium in New Delhi. Team India won the first ODI at Dharamshala but the visitors came back really well to win the second match and level the series 1-1. It was earlier reported that the Delhi District Cricket Association (DDCA) earned more than 5crore by organizing the ODI on .
CK Khanna the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) vice-president today claimed that irrespective of what has been reported in the media tickets worth Rs 52.36 lakh remained “unsold”. “Tickets worth Rupees 52,36,000 were unsold. Why all the tickets were not sold-out? DDCA started online ticket sale quite late that too without proper advertisement,” he stated in a media release.
Khanna also added that the profit mentioned in media reports is over stated. “A news item appeared few days back in some section of media that DDCA earned more than 5 Crores in recently organised One Day International Cricket Match between India & New Zealand held on 20th Oct 2016. After verifying from M/S V.K Bajaj & Co. who are looking after the accounts of DDCA including International Match account also. I was informed from the details forwarded to me by M/s V.K Baja & Co. that DDCA has earned a profit of 3.61crore approx. only from this International Match.”
But on the contrary to Khanna’s statement Chetan Chauhan who leads the opposite group in the DDCA didn’t claim profits of 5 crores but their press release had mentioned that DDCA made profits worth Rs 3.81 crore.
