'To all the India fans in our mentions saying Jimmy 'Clouderson' - England’s Barmy Army gives a fitting reply to Anderson's critics

Though there is no doubt that Anderson is a world-class bowler, one can’t deny that the pacer has been more successful in conditions suitable for fast bowling.

After the England tour of India, Team India will again return to action in international cricket with a long tour to the English nation. India will depart for the United Kingdom (UK) in the first week of June and will stay there till mid-September. The team will first lock horns against New Zealand in the final of the World Test Championship inaugural edition from June 18 to June 22 at Southampton.

The same will be followed by the visitors facing the English team for a five-match Test series starting from August 4. The rivalry between India and England is nothing new especially in the purest format of the game. Much before the Test series between the two decorated nations, the fan wars have started on social networking sites with the fans of both the nations trying to get back to each other.

On Monday, April 10, England’s cricket supporters club, England’s Barmy Army took a sly dig at the Indian fans for calling England’s pace merchant James Anderson as ‘Clouderson’. Notably, Anderson has often been bullied by many cricket enthusiasts by the name of ‘Clouderson’.

The name has been inspired by the fact that Anderson’s biggest weapon in his armory is his swing and he has often been assisted by the cloudy weather conditions. Though there is no doubt that Anderson is a world-class bowler, one can’t deny that the pacer has been more successful in conditions suitable for fast bowling.

England’s Barmy Army’s fitting reply

To get back to the Indian fans, England’s Barmy Army posted a video from the first Test of the four-match series between India and England, hosted in Chennai earlier this year. In the short clip, Anderson can be seen bowling a spectacular inswinger to dismiss India’s vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane.

The Twitter handle posted the video with the caption, “To all the India fans in our mentions saying Jimmy ‘Clouderson’”

The first Test of the four-match series between India and England saw the visitors winning the first match by 227 runs. However, India made a stunning comeback as they won the rest of the three games on the trot to win the series by 3-1.
