T20 cricket has changed the way cricket was played. The shortest format of the game was started in 2005, but the youngest baby of International cricket has not stopped surprising us in any way. We see a lot of new inventions and cheeky techniques introduced by players to cope up with the fast pace game. T20 Blast, England’s T20 league is the one which is entertaining the fans at the moment.

The centerpiece of the Somerset team in the T20 league is Pakistani batting star, Babar Azam. However in their 6th game of the tournament, instead of Azam, the headlines were grabbed by the skipper Tom Abell. The skipper played a weird but effective shot to score a boundary and nobody was able to resist themselves from watching it twice.

Somerset was chasing a total of 169 against Worcestershire and the match was getting quite intense. The skipper pulled a shot from his pocket and everyone was awestruck. He played a reverse paddle scoop, or somewhere near to that and the ball raced towards the fence over the wicketkeeper’s head. It looked quite relaxed but was nowhere close to easy at all.

Somerset lost the close match

Somerset lost their third game of the tournament despite the heroic efforts from their captain. Tom Abell (60 off 39) played a fabulous knock and tried his best to take his team over the line. He played some incredible shots and looked all set to finish the game on his own. However, his efforts came to an end in the 18th over when he was dismissed by Pattrick Brown.

Worcestershire was restricted to 168 by Somerset in the first innings, however, the total turned out to be a difficult task from Somerset to chase. Babar Azam, their star overseas batsman was dismissed on the first ball and the chase was not easy since then. However the game went till the last ball and they needed 5 runs to win from the last delivery, but they managed to score only one run and lost the game by 3 runs.
