India have had an incredible time in their ongoing four-match Test series against Australia. They won the first Test at Adelaide Oval by 31 runs but slumped to a 146-run defeat at the new Perth Stadium where the pitch generated a prodigious bounce, which undoubtedly made life difficult for the Indian batters, However, the visiting team, led by Virat Kohli, didn’t throw in the towel.

In the third Test at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), they came out all guns blazing and eventually won by 137 runs. Cheteshwar Pujara’s century followed by half-centuries from Mayank Agarwal, Kohli and Rohit Sharma lifted India to 443 after which they declared. Fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah came to the party and picked up a stupendous six-wicket haul.

Tom Moody lashes out

The spell of bowling restricted the Aussies to 151 and helped India amass a first-innings lead of 292 runs. Pat Cummins hit back with a six-wicket haul, nevertheless, couldn’t stop the visitors from setting a colossal target of 399. During the run-chase, only Cummins showed some resistance with a knock of 63 runs. Barring that, the Aussies strained and eventually fell short by 137 runs.

Going into the fourth and final Test, starting January 3 at Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG), the Aussies need to pull a rabbit out the hat in order to draw level in the series. In the meantime, former Australian cricketer Tom Moody was somewhat agitated by Australia’s perspective to their domestic cricket. During the presentation ceremony, Kohli and Bumrah praised Indian domestic cricket.

Moody wants Australia to see their domestic first-class tournament, the Sheffield Shield, with the same importance while praising Bumrah and Virat. He took to Twitter and wrote, “Interesting how both @imVkohli & @Jaspritbumrah93 praise the significance of the Ranji Trophy in their player development. Shame we’re not sharing the same sentiment with Sheffield Shield. #AUDvIND,”
