India has not been the most consistent side in the T20Is, but truth be told, they have certainly dominated when in form. India have had their moments of joy in T20 cricket, from winning the inaugural edition of T20 World Cup to becoming the number one ranked T20 side in the world. The key to the success has always been one major contribution with the bat, around which other partnerships have been built. More or less, this is how the game works in the shortest format. So who have been the players to notch up the top scores for India in T20Is? Here are the highest individual scores for India in T20Is.

Virat Kohli was in supreme touch when he single-handedly outplayed South Africa in the 2nd semi-final of the 2014 ICC World T20. South Africa scored 172/4 in their 20 overs. Chasing 173 for the win, Virat came in at number 3, with the scorecard reading 39/1 in 3.5 overs. Kohli absolutely hammered the Protea bowling to complete his half century in 35 balls and then finished up with the score of an unbeaten 72 off 44 balls. The match saw a cheeky moment between MS Dhoni and Kohli when Dhoni defended the ball on the last ball of the penultimate over to let Kohli hit the winning runs. It was after this match, that England Women’s team player Danielle Wyatt proposed Kohli on Twitter.
