South Africa faced New Zealand for a chance to play in the 2015 World Cup finals. South Africa batted first and scored 281/5 in 43 overs, after rain interrupted the match in the 38th over, reducing it to 43 overs a side. Faf du Plessis top scored with 82 and captain AB de Villiers provided the boost at the end with 65 runs.

New Zealand got the target of 298 to chase in 43 overs after applying the D/L method. They got a hurricane start with McCullum scoring 59 off just 26 balls. They kept the run rate up despite losing wickets, before Grant Elliot (84) and Corey Anderson (58) got New Zealand to the finishing line. Elliot hit Steyn for a six to take NZ into the World Cup finals for the first time ever.
