Cricket is one of the most popular sports around the world and the sport has reached newer areas in the past few years. Recently, the fans saw how a team from Japan participated in the ICC U19 World Cup while a women’s team from Thailand made history by qualifying for the ICC T20 World Cup 2020.

Although none of the two teams could win a single match in their respective competitions, these developments show that cricket will soon become a global sport. Besides, Thailand Women had almost defeated Pakistan Women in their final group match however, a rain interruption did not allow the match to complete.

Speaking of women’s cricket, team India made it to the finale of the competition where they were squashed by tournament hosts and defending champions, Australia. 5. Jhulan Goswami

The 37-year-old fast bowler from Bengal, Jhulan Goswami has bid adieu to the T20 format but no one can deny the fact that she is one of the greatest women’s cricketers India has ever produced. Goswami has played 10 Tests, 182 ODIs and 68 T20Is for the nation where she has scalped over 300 wickets. She has achieved the most success in ODI cricket.

Nicknamed as Babul, Jhulan has bowled in 181 innings where she has picked up 225 wickets while giving away runs at an economy rate of 3.28. The opposition batswomen could not handle her pace and her best figures of 6/31 reflect the same.

She has been awarded Grade B contract for the 2019-20 season by the BCCI and according to it, Goswami earns Rs 30 lakhs.

The 28-year-old leg-break googly bowler from Uttar Pradesh, Poonam Yadav was one of the key reasons behind India’s success in the Women’s T20 World Cup. She picked up 10 wickets in the competition thereby helping India reach the finals. Seven of her 10 wickets came in the first two games which shows how dangerous she could be once she gets going.

Yadav does not have many brand endorsements like the other women cricketers which are present on this list but her 150+ wickets in international cricket have helped her secure a Grade-A contract from BCCI.

She earns 50 lakhs INR annually but the fans should expect her earnings to go up in the next financial year as she has become a popular name in India now. She is also likely to earn a WBBL contract in the upcoming season. A lot of brands would love to have her as their brand’s face as well.

One of the most popular women’s cricketers of the nation, Smriti Mandhana had grabbed the limelight with her magnificent performance in the ICC Women’s World Cup 2017. Mandhana was even a part of the Indian Women’s T20 World Cup squad however, the 23-year-old batter failed to light up the tournament with her performances.

She has been a regular for the Indian women’s team as she has played 2 Tests, 51 ODIs and 75 T20Is. India’s T20 vice-captain has also been a part of the IPL Women’s Challenge and Women’s Big Bash League tournaments.

She has a grade-A contract with BCCI according to which she earns Rs 50 lakhs while she also has two top brand endorsement deals. Mandhana’s bat sponsor is Hero MotoCorp while she has a tie-up with the energy drink company Red Bull.

The Indian women’s T20 team captain, Harmanpreet Kaur became the first Indian female player to lead an Indian side to the final of the Women’s T20 World Cup. Her brilliant leadership skills ensured that the Women in Blue stayed unbeaten till the finale. Just like Smriti Mandhana, Kaur is also one of the top cricketers in the team who has been a part of the Sydney Thunder Women and Supernova teams in the shortest format.

The Punjab-born player is an all-rounder who has always given her 100 percent on the field. Kaur has aggregated over 2,000 runs in 114 T20I matches. She even has a T20I hundred to her name. Besides, the right-arm off-break bowler has picked up 29 T20I wickets with best figures of 4/23.

BCCI has awarded her a grade-A contract and earns Rs 50 lakhs and her bat sponsor CEAT is one of the biggest players in the sponsorship game. Retail brand Natural-B fruit juice of ITC has Harmanpreet Kaur as its face.

The Indian women’s cricketer who earns the most money is the veteran right-handed batsman from Rajasthan, Mithali Raj. The 37-year-old has aggregated nearly 7,000 runs in ODI cricket whereas she is also the captain of India Women’s ODI and Test teams. Talking about her numbers in 50-overs cricket, Mithali has an average of 50.64 in 189 innings.

She has remained unbeaten 53 times in her ODI career and she has even better numbers in Test cricket. Raj has played 10 Tests where she has scored 663 runs in 16 innings, at an average of 51.

Mithali Raj has endorsed big brands like Allen Solley, American Tourister, NextGen Fitness Studio and Royal Challenge. Also, she has a grade-B contract from BCCI according to which she earns Rs 30 lakh annually and helps her top this elite list.
