As the games are played, it’s always amusing to see certain players wearing caps that stand out from the rest of them. More so, because they are an indication that they’ve earned that with their performance. While the Orange cap is a reward for highest run-scorers, the Purple cap is donned by the ones who have impressed with their wicket-taking abilities.

It may have been shifting from Andre Russell to Mitchell McClenaghan, from Shane Watson to fellow teammate Yuzvendra Chahal. But, it was Bhuvneshwar Kumar who gradually and consistently impressed and took the Purple Cap home last year. Bhuvneshwar Kumar may well be in the race for the same, but there are 5 more bowlers that will have a strong chance in the hunt for the Purple Cap in IPL 10.

#1) Yuzvendra Chahal

He has been the leading wicket–taker for the Royal Challengers Bangalore for two years now. Last year, he narrowly missed out on the Purple cap as Bhuvneshwar Kumar overtook him by 4 wickets. In these two years, he has been in the Top 3 for the contention of leading wicket takers. The leg-spinner was impressive during his debut for the national side in ODIs and T20Is against Zimbabwe.

His good show deserved another call-up to the Indian T20 line-up to face England earlier this year. He gave a performance to remember in the deciding game with his 6 for 25. What was more special is that this performance came in Bangalore, his RCB home ground, and one that is not the best place for spinners. He was part of an England collaspse of 8 for 8, and his’ are the third-best figures in T20, so far.
