There’s a lot more to T20 leagues than just cricket. Television, sponsors, broadcasters and much more. In fact, a lot of these off-field parameters define the success of the league as well. Indian Premier League (IPL) is at the top of most of those parameters. In fact, it is arguably the most followed T20 league across the world.

If there is any doubt about the quality and the level of the Indian Premier League (IPL), the overall brand value of the IPL and also, the individual brand values of each team squash all those doubts. Year after year, the numbers keep going higher and scale new peaks.

In a report by a global advisory firm, Duff & Phelps, the Indian T20 league has grown 7% in overall valuation and has reached $6.8 billion in 2019. The teams have their individual branding as well.

Thus, here is a look at all the eight franchises and listing them on their brand value:

8. Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) – $41.7 million

Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) have been one of the most underperforming teams in the history of the IPL. In fact, they have the second-worst average on where they finish on the points table. Over 13 seasons, they have made it to the top four only twice. Once was in the inaugural season (2008) and the other was in 2014.

Over the last couple of seasons, they haven’t been shy one spending big money on certain players but they just haven’t found a way to get through. The Mohali-based franchise tends to start well before losing out on all the fizz. They have ended seventh and sixth respectively over the last two years.

However, Kings XI Punjab have some big stars among their ranks. That has made them a valuable team. In fact, their brand value has grown by 4% and is now $41.7 million. However, despite that, they are at the bottom of the tree.
