The Kolkata Knight Riders played the Kings XI Punjab on 4 May at Kolkata. Among all the controversies, a new one has come up now. Although there has been a lot of time since the match was played, a new controversy about the game is springing up in the social media.

Apparently, as per the TV audiences, it was the toss that was wrongly judged by Ravi Shastri. The Kings XI Punjab skipper Murali Vijay had lost the toss but despite this fact, Ravi Shastri asked Vijay what he would like to do. Here is what perspired at the toss.

Ravi Shastri introduced the two captains, Kolkata Knight Riders’ Gautam Gambhir and Kings XI Punjab’s Murali Vijay along with the match referee. Gambhir, being the home captain, tossed the coin and Murali Vijay called it a ‘heads’. The coin rolled over and Shastri quickly exclaimed ‘Tails it is!’. After a bit of hesitation and confusion in the middle, Murali Vijay stepped ahead and shook hands with Shastri. Shastri asked him what he would like to do and the KXIP skipper chose to bowl first. While it all seemed like a usual affair, it is believed that Gautam Gambhir had essentially won the toss.

However, the toss didn’t cost much to the home side. The Knight Riders, after put into bat, posted a total of 164/3 on the board. The Kings XI Punjab came very close to the target but eventually fell short by 7 runs and were restricted to 157/9 in their 20 overs.
