Dominance of the spinners continued in the 2nd game of the Tri-Nation Series as the hosts West Indies collapsed against the likes of Nathan Lyon and Adam Zampa. The hosts were bowled out for just 116 after put into bat. Later Australia chased down by losing 4 wickets and 146 balls to spare with the help of an unbeaten fifty from David Warner. Out of the 14 wickets fell in this game, 10 wickets were picked up by spinners. Here we look at all the stats and records recorded during the game.

5 – Sunil Narine bowled the first over for West Indies in this game. Thus he became only the 5th spinner to open the bowling in an ODI for West Indies in West Indies. The last a West Indian spinner opened the bowling at home in an ODI was Anthony Martin vs India in June, 2011. Martin opened the bowling twice in that series vs India.

7 – Number of wickets Australia spinners picked up in the game, the joint most they have taken in an ODI game. The Previous instance was in 2011 vs England at Adelaide.

12 – Number of times Kieron Pollard dismissed for a duck in ODI Cricket. He has batted in just 87 innings.

44 – Runs scored in boundaries by West Indies. This is the first time since 2013, West Indies scored less than 50 runs in boundaries in a completed ODI game. The last instance was 24 runs in boundaries vs Pakistan in July, 2013 at this very ground.

50 – Number of wickets Jason Holder has picked up in ODI Cricket. He took just 37 games for the milestone. He became the 32nd West Indian to pick 50 ODI wickets.

116 – West Indies’ total of 116 is their 3rd lowest total in West Indies in ODI Cricket and their lowest at home vs Australia.

154 – Balls taken by Australia to chase down the target. This is the first time since 2000 Australia took more than 25 overs to chase down a target under 120 in ODI Cricket. The last instance was in Jan 2000 at Sydney vs India.

1022 – Partnership runs David Warner and Aaron Finch pair recorded while opening in ODIs. They became only the 7th Australian opening pair to score 1000 runs and the 48th pair overall.

1946 – Runs scored by Denesh Ramdin as keeper in ODIs, the most by any West Indies keeper.

2011 – The last Australian Spin “Bowler” before Nathan Lyon who won a Man of the Match award in ODI Cricket was Xavier Doherty. He won the match award in August 2011 vs Sri Lanka at Colombo. Since then, Glenn Maxwell won 5 awards but they included his batting performances as well.
