Twitter erupts as Dinesh Karthik wins the game single-handedly for India

The finals of the Nidahas Trophy was more thrilling than you’d ever expect. The winner of the game wasn’t decided till the last ball of the game and yet again, it is India who won the game. With this victory, they will take home the Nidahas Trophy and also never lost a T20I to Bangladesh. This game was as good as you’ll ever see and Dinesh Karthik played an unrealistic knock to take India home.

Chasing 167 in the finals, India didn’t get off to the best of starts. They lost early wickets and were in a spot of bother. However, skipper Rohit Sharma ensured that the scoreboard kept ticking along. But, he got out at the wrong time leaving India in all sorts of trouble. In a surprising move, Vijay Shankar was sent in ahead of the in-form Dinesh Karthik.

Vijay played an uncharacteristic T20 innings and struggled to get going. The condition got even worse when he played four dot balls in the 18th over and India needed 35 off 14 at that point in time. This built up the pressure on his partner Manish Pandey as he perished on the last ball of the same over.

Then came in Dinesh Karthik! He looked as calm as one could ever be. Karthik played some proper cricketing shots with some great composure. He hit a six off the first delivery that he faced in the 19th over. That six was followed by a four and then a six again. He finished the 19th over with a four as India required only 12 from the last over.

Vijay Shankar who has occupied a majority of the strike in the last over got out on the fifth ball after hitting a boundary of the fourth. Fortunately, the batsmen crossed each other while Vijay got out and India required 5 to win from the last delivery. Dinesh Karthik finished off the game with a beautiful six over extra cover as the Bangladesh men couldn’t believe their luck and were down with utter disappointment.

Dinesh Karthik scored 29 runs off just 8 deliveries and took Twitterati by surprise. People lauded him for his efforts and praised him as he did an MS Dhoni out there. Furthermore, Rohit Sharma also went past Virat Kohli’s tally of 7 T20I wins with this victory. Twitterati also trolled the Bangladesh team for their Naagin Dance.
