India is currently playing the 2018 Asia Cup and is set to play their opening match against Hong Kong at Dubai International Cricket Stadium. A number of their players recently played in the Test series in England and hence, Rohit Sharma mentioned that it will be difficult for the players to adjust. Hence, it was speculated that some of their players, who played the series, may be rested.

It turned out to be exactly that way as left-arm fast bowler Khaleel Ahmed got his maiden international cap. He doesn’t have a whole of experience at the first-class level having played only a couple of matches in which he has notched only two wickets for Rajasthan back in October 2017. Moreover, the speedster doesn’t have much experience in the List A and T20 format as well.

Moreover, the 20-year-old played represented the Sunrisers Hyderabad in their match against Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League (IPL) where he conceded 38 runs in his three overs. Thereafter, the Rajasthan-born cricketer was drafted into the India ‘A’ squad for their triangular series on English soil, involving England Lions and Windies ‘A’.

He picked up wickets in every other match and his best bowling figures of 3/48 came against the Lions in the final at Kennington Oval in London. To add to his delight, he was also included for the quadrangular series in India. He didn’t disappoint by any stretch of the imaginations and the bowler ended with seven wickets to grab the eyes of the selectors.

As far as India’s match against Anshuman Rath and Co is concerned, a number of other players like Manish Pandey, Kedar Jadhav and Ambati Rayudu who didn’t feature in the previous English tour, got opportunities. Meanwhile, Twitter is delighted with Khaleel Ahmed’s inclusion.
