Sanju Samson has been tremendous form in this edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). He is representing the Rajasthan Royals and has been a prolific run scorer for them in this season. He is currently the leading run-scorer in the tournament with 239 runs in six games at an average of 47.80. More importantly, he notched the runs at a strike rate of 150.31, which is commendable.

He began the event with a gutsy 49 runs against the Sunrisers Hyderabad and was the only Royals’ batsman to look comfortable that day. However, lack of support meant that the Royals were restricted to a below par score which was effortlessly chased down by the home team. He followed it with a jaw-dropping knock of 92 runs against the Royal Challengers Bangalore at the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium.

He didn’t blaze away from the outset, but gradually accelerated, which helped the visitors rack a mammoth score on the board. The Trivandrum-born batsman smashed as many as 10 sixes, which propelled their score and it turned out to be a far cry for the Challengers to chase down. Thereafter, he stumbled against the Kolkata Knight Riders and the Chennai Super Kings.

Nevertheless, instead of letting the weak performances mar his mental sanctity, he came back strongly and churned out another knock of substance against the Mumbai Indians. He racked up his second fifty of the tournament, which took the hosts within touching distance of the target after which Krishnappa Gowtham went hammer and tongs to fetch Rajasthan their third victory.

Quite expectantly, Samson has been showered with praise from the cricketing fraternity and from every nook and corner of the country. Such has been his dominance that he has been compared to the enigmatic Mahendra Singh Dhoni. Meanwhile, Vinod Kambli, the former Indian cricketer, isn’t quite satisfied by the hype surrounding Samson.

The cricketer recently bashed the commentators for praising Sanju Samson. However, the comments didn’t go down well with the public and Kambli was taken to the cleaners by Twitterati.
