Twitter Reactions: Ambati Rayudu raises concern with yet another sluggish knock

The batting form of Ambati Rayudu is causing a massive concern both in the Indian cricket circles as well as the CSK camp. This year hasn’t been fruitful for the Hyderabad batsman and he seems to be struggling to get runs. Except for the 90 that he got in New Zealand about two months back, there isn’t anything noteworthy the right-hander has done.

It was thought that he would end Team India’s number four conundrum for the World Cup 2019. However, the way he is playing at the moment is raising a lot of questions. Rayudu hasn’t been able to time the ball well which is otherwise one of his biggest strengths. He isn’t able to find the gaps either and this is leading to him subjecting himself to a lot of pressure.

Will Ambati Rayudu be picked in the World Cup squad?

In just about five days time, the selectors will be picking India’s squad for the World Cup. Now, with Ambati Rayudu performing so poorly, the debate about the number four position arises yet again. The 33-year-old batted at this very position in the game against KKR when his team was in a slight bit of bother.

The pitch was sluggish alright, but Faf du Plessis played calculated cricket on the same track and did well for his team. Meanwhile, Ambati Rayudu tried too hard to score his runs. He struck two fours in his innings of which one came off a free-hit. This implies that Rayudu took 29 balls to score the remaining 13 runs during his knock.

After scoring 21 runs, he attempted to play a big shot even though there wasn’t any need to do it. The run rate was pretty much under control and he could have got some confidence had he stayed in the middle for a little longer. Twitterati was left dejected after watching Ambati Rayudu bat in this innings. They expressed their concern while some doubt if he’ll be picked in the World Cup squad.
